New
Zealand overseas travel
up 3% in September 2007
Overseas
travel by New Zealand residents increased by
6,482 trips or 3% in the month of September
2007. "Holiday" travel rose by 3%,
with departures for "VFR" reasons
up 4% and "business" travel up by
less than 1%. In total, New Zealand overseas
travel was recorded at 1.94 million
departures in the year ended September
2007 -
up by 76,522 departures, or 3% on the same
twelve month period of the previous year.

New Zealander is undoubtedly one of the world's most
enthusiastic overseas travellers, recording one overseas
trip per 2.2 head of population. This ratio compares with 1 in 4.2 for

New Zealand visitor arrival news into selected overseas
destinations
In
the month of September 2007, New Zealand visitor
arrivals into Vietnam rose by 21%. In the month of August
2007, visitors to Hong Kong from New Zealand rose by
25%, with arrivals into Korea up 13% and into Macau and
the Philippines up 44% and 14% respectively; New
Zealand visitors to Singapore fell by 14% in August with
arrivals into Australia up 12% and into Taiwan up 11%.
In the month of July 2007, visitors to the United States
increased by up 7%, with arrivals into Samoa and South Africa up 13% and 9%
respectively; New Zealand visitors to New Caledonia
fell by 4% in the month of July. In June 2007, New
Zealand visitors to Bali grew by 4%, with arrivals into
Canada up 5% and into China and the Cook Islands up 24%
and 27% respectively. Visitors to Japan from New
Zealand increased by 14% in the month of June with
arrivals into Vanuatu up
8%.

overseas visitor arrivals - June 2007
Total
overseas visitor arrivals into China increased by 20% in
the month of June 2007, with visitors from New
Zealand
up 24%. New Zealand visitors accounted for just 0.4%
of the China's arrival total in the year ended June 2007
and were recorded at 98,631 - up by 20% on the year ended

Australia overseas visitor arrivals - August 2007
Total
overseas visitors into Australia increased by 6% in the month of
August
2007,
with visitors from New
Zealand up
12%.
New Zealand accounted for nearly
20% of the Australia arrival total in the year

the year ended August 2006.
